英國女王伊麗莎白二世（Queen Elizabeth II）于英國當地時間9月8日下午逝世，享年96歲。

倫敦藝術大學校長 James Purnell 向女王的逝世表達了哀悼。

今天，我們悼念英國女王伊麗莎白二世的逝世。

這是王室失去親人的一天，我代表倫敦藝術大學，在他們悲痛的時刻表示哀悼——我們所有的思念和祈禱與他們同在。

這也是我們的國家蒙受損失的一天。我們失去了在位時間最長的君主，也失去了與逝者的聯系，他們以尊嚴和優雅無私地為我們服務。

Today, we mark the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

It is a day of private loss for the Royal Family, and on behalf of UAL, I want to extend my condolences in their moment of grief - all our thoughts and prayers are with them.

It is a day of loss for our nation too. We have lost our longest-serving monarch; a living connection with the past who served us unselfishly with dignity and grace.

It is a day in which we are reminded of the values she embodied as a living symbol: self-sacrifice, responsibility, duty, decency, tolerance and kindness towards others.

The Queen served us for seventy years and, in that time, saw our society transformed. The values she embodied through those decades, however, remained the same.

For those of us in public service, these are the values we must always aspire towards: that there is no higher calling in life than to serve others.
